These sleep sacks come in lot’s of different materials like Muslin, cotton or micro-fleece.  They are always a popular seller and you can see why!  The only thing to remember is that if your baby is still swaddling then these may not be your first choice “yet”, but you can still give some swaddling to help them get to sleep and let them sleep in one of these for the remainder of the night.  They are such a great invention and help prevent sudden infant death syndrome where babies can be smothered by loose blankets.

So, these sacks are offered as a safe, snug and warm alternative to blankets, and you have to agree that a baby sleep sack is one of life’s better inventions in modern times.  Use them over jammies in the winter and as they are in the summer.  Their versatility is superb.  They are a great invention and many parents have been hailing their sleep-time successes as being down to simple sleep sacks.  Why not find out more.

7 Great Reasons To Grab A Baby Sleep Positioner

If you are looking to get a peaceful night’s sleep then you might well be considering a baby sleep positioner to help your little loved one get a great sleep and wake up with a smile on their face. For busy moms and dads, a baby positioner makes a lot of sense, safety and for sleep!

So what exactly is a baby sleep positioner?

As you can imagine, it’s a specially designed aide that helps your baby sleep in a specific position. Young babies usually sleep on their back in the first few months until they are able to turn over by themselves. At this stage they have developed strong enough muscles to move their head and body to get the best sleep position and to ensure they can still breathe safely.

You can get positioners for the cot or crib, and positioners to go in the baby’s stroller or even wrap-around sling positioners to allow the infant to be strapped to yourself while on the move. Handy for those busy days when baby needs to sleep and life goes on for mom and dad!

They also make great gifts for new moms and dads. at Baby Showers.

The benefits

A baby sleep positioner has a number of key benefits:

• Helps give the parent peace of mind knowing that their baby is sleeping the right way
• Helps to keep the baby on it’s back during the first few months
• Helps prevent their heads and necks from rolling too far either side while asleep
• Helps to reduce stress to neck vertebrae
• Helps reduce reflux
• Helps babies sleep when they are congested (keeps the mucus away from the chest)
• Helps babies sleep while mom and dad are busy

Whatever the need, a positioner makes a lot of sense. We don’t always have the luxury of time to be able to do very little all day every day. Sometimes we need to get things done and that means letting your new child have a much needed rest while you tend to the rest of life’s demands that are thrown at you.

When looking for a suitable baby sleep positioner, it must meet certain requirements (so it pays to stick to trusted and tested brands wherever possible) so it needs to be nice and soft to touch, yet firm enough to prevent suffocation. A wedge positioner is the most common type while a sling allows for more versatility for the parent if busy, and also to help the child sleep on his or her side.

All in all, it helps the whole family get a good night’s sleep, and so helps the everyone relax and find a new rhythm with the new addition to their family!

Let’s face it, your baby loves to be pampered and you love to dish out the love.  We all do!  Keep baby snug and feeling contented when asleep is made easier with the use of the various kinds of baby sleepers.

A baby needs his or her body to be at a nice temperature and nice and snug in order to get a good sleep.  Most sleepers will come with either stud fasteners or a zipper.  These allow for fast changing of your baby without waking them up too much.  You can even use the quick open access to apply cream in the night without making your baby cold.

Which baby sleepers to choose?

Well there are quite a few different types to think about, and most of them come in a wide array of styles and colors to suit your tastes.  As an alternative you might want to take a look at infant sleeper gowns that are low in cost and normally have features that include the likes of expandable neck openings that make dressing your baby nice and easy.  Baby sleeper gowns also have open bottoms that are elasticated or can be tied to make night time changing easy and effort-free to avoid waking your baby.

Look for baby sleepers that really suit your baby, sleepers such as “newborn sleepers”.  Features like front snap closure  and machine washable are certainly features you shouldn’t do without if you want a peaceful night’s sleep and are trying to put baby to sleep with any degree of success!  All sleepers will come with a guide to the desired sizing, for example “newborn” or 6-9 months.

Quick tip!  You may well want to look at a sleeper that is slightly bigger than the baby’s current weight. They quickly grow out of clothing and you will be pleased that you too this route! Even though infant clothing can be quite cheap, it pays to save every penny when your baby is growing!

The baby sleepers you are considering may well come with a zipper and foot enclosures to keep feet warm when asleep.  Really you may want to try a few different types if you are not sure.  Some are loose or ordinary fitting, whereas you can get others that are body-hugging which may aide with keeping the baby feeling snug when they are not being swaddled.  The zippers make opening easier, and are really are just a personal preference.

Put Baby To Sleep – 4 Quick Fire Tips

Your baby is the most precious thing to happen in your life, and no matter how much you love them, if you cannot put baby to sleep easily then things quickly start to go downhill.  Before long, both the baby and parents will feel the effects of sleep deprivation and sleep disturbance.

Yep, they are going to get pretty cranky!  It’s bad enough when you or I have had a bad night’s sleep, but when your bay is also struggling this only makes things worse.  Things get even more intense when you think about the fact that your baby may not sleep at the same times as you for a few months from birth.

Here are four top tips to help you put baby to sleep so you get plenty of the same and can feel refreshed and invigorated (for once!).

  1. If your baby is unwell then he or she is going to feel cranky anyway.  Babies often get congested so it’s important to help them shift that excess mucus by raising their upper body a little bit.  Try to use a baby sleep positioner to keep them in the right position.  A wedge under the mattress will elevate the head end, raising their upper body, keeping the mucus away.  Alternatively a sling may be of use if the baby has bed sores and would feel more uncomfortable sleeping on their side.
  2. A routine is one of the best things you can ever do to aid with sleep patterns.  It pays huge dividends for both you and your baby.  Develop a habit that is repeated each and every day.  Perhaps a baby bath around 5pm to 6pm, followed by a drink or feed for your baby and then followed by bed.  If you follow the same routine day in, day out, they quickly adapt, and they begin to know that a bath the bottle means bed.
  3.  When you want to put baby to sleep, wrap your baby tight with a blanket, ensuring their arms are wrapped close to their sides.  This is a useful tip if you are finding it hard to put baby to sleep.  Ordinarily, your bay may be reaching out for the comfort and snuggling from their parent.  This wrapping tightly helps them feel like they are being snuggled and will help them with their sleep.
  4.  Avoid eye contact and keep the room darkened.  Babies will often look to your eyes for reassurance when they are in their bed. You need to avoid eye contact with them wherever possible.  This will help set the right conditions for them to fall asleep.  They won’t have anything to “do” apart from go to sleep because everything else will seem boring.  The darkened room also helps set the tone as they have very little to look and think about.

If you are struggling to put baby to sleep then hopefully one of the above techniques will be of use.  Just give them a try and be persistent for 2 weeks consistently and see if things begin to improve.  Let us know how you get on as we would love to hear your thoughts!

Baby Pillows – how to choose them

When your baby starts to get older, you will probably be getting ready to purchase a baby pillow. Most adults sleep with a pillow so it makes perfect sense for you to let your baby get used to one as well.
The trouble is that most pillows are generally too big for a baby and might be a cause of discomfort for them. Most babies won’t be able to communicate with you about this. It’s not like they can talk to you about it over breakfast. Therefore as parents we have to try and make educated guesses a lot of the time.
A pillow suitable for your child is actually a good idea. It can help support the neck while they sleep. Remember that a baby’s body is still developing so any help you can offer can only be a good thing.

What sort of baby pillow should you consider?

• Well you have your regular pillows, just in a smaller size. The kind you or I would use. • Then there are baby sleep positioner pillows that help keep the child’s head safe by having pillow cushions positioned either side of the head. These are also great to stop them rolling over and suffocating.
• There are more specific pillows such as for babies with flat head syndrome. These are general curved and provide support almost all of the way round the pillow.
• In addition to this, there are also a number of nursing pillows. A nursing baby pillow is like a big plush cushion with a harness sewn in that the baby sits in. These help free up your arms while nursing.
• There are inserts for car seats that allow for sleeping when travelling and ensuring your baby gets a good sleep with it’s head falling too far on any one side.
• You can also buy wedge shaped pillows suitable for cribs. These simply sit beneath the crib sheets and aid with relieving congestion so that both baby and you get a good night sleep!
• You can also find cuddly pet-design pillows that kids love to cuddle up to. A baby pillow like this is a great idea as it encourages them to start using it. Who wouldn’t want to cuddle up to one?

You can start to look at the different kinds of baby pillow and choose one suitable for your child. They do range in price but this depends on the brand and materials used so you might want to shop around before you commit! If you want a good sleep then why not invest? Your baby will thank you for it.

Baby Sleep Training Tips

Baby Sleep Training

Aaargh!  Sleep!  We all need it and cannot go very long without it, so how on earth can you get your baby to sleep soundly each night?  With the right baby sleep training this task will be a lot easier.  If you’ve not had children before, or you have a child who is having trouble sleeping then you are probably reading this with tired eyes.  It’s OK, we feel your pain!  Let’s take a look at what you can do.

Baby sleep training will happen in your own way using your own methods.  The methods you develop will be unique to you and your own style, but you will earn these from ideas which others may have told you to try.  Every child is different so you may need to try one or two types!

Routines hold the key to great baby sleep training!

Babies are just like us.  They thrive on routines and they pick them up really quickly.  If you are able to establish a routine very early on then there “bumps in the road” will be less severe along your journey to being a great parent and raising your own family.

Bath then bed.  That’s a great routine to develop.  Before bedtime, give the child a nice warm bath, followed by a cuddle, and then a drink of milk and then finally to bed.  Follow this routine religiously no matter how much the bay shows he or she isn’t happy.  They will improve and get used to it over time.

Meal then play.  Some parents let their infants go to sleep after eating a meal.  This is not a great habit to fall into as can tell the baby that they can only fall asleep after eating so try to encourage some gentle fun with them like playing, talking or dancing with the baby.  Try to keep them out of their cribs or strollers.

Same time each time.  Another great routine to consider.  Try to put them to sleep the same time each night.  Keep it to a reasonable time and try to let them sleep in their crib.  This routine will soon become instilled into them. Perhaps this baby sleep training tip might suit you best. If not, how about trying another idea?

Sleep baby sleep.  Try to avoid letting your child sleep in the same bed as you.  Sure they will cry for a while.  This is because they want to feel snug and secure.  To get round this, wrap their arms tight to their body with a wrap to make them feel snug while they sleep.  They will feel safe and protected.  You will be amazed by how well this works.

Baby Massage. How about a gentle and quiet massage for your baby before you put them to sleep? They can be fully clothed too, so once they are really drowsy, you don’t have to wake them to get into their sleep clothes. Try massaging their head, arms and feet.

Avoid stimulation. Try to locate baby’s room in a quiet part of the house, but close enough to hear them when they wake, or call out if in distress. Sitting in a slightly darkened room can help sooth your baby,  and sitting in a comfortable chair allows your arms to not get too tired. “White noise” from a gentle fan or radio can also help to avoid outside loud noises distractions – just make sure you have a baby monitor nearby so you can hear when your baby wakes up.

Whatever baby sleep training you choose, work it to your own needs and situation and please, just persevere.  You will soon find they settle into the new routine pretty quickly and you’ll thank yourself for sticking with it.  Being a parent is rewarding.  It may not be easy but it sure is worth it, so enjoy every moment!
